Processing Emotions between therapy sessions.

When clients are trying to figure out if therapy is for them, they are trying to process how they felt during the first session and whether they want to continue navigating through their emotions.

I believe that the idea of coming into session and having the courage to continue connecting with a therapist, vs trying to pause and figure out how you're feeling about the process, takes thought and time.

I wonder how many clients are processing through the moments of reflection, especially as it relates to ensuring they are getting what they need out of the experience.

Take a moment to reflect on what you want to accomplish in therapy. What would you like to do for yourself? And take in the moment to figure out before and during your time, so that you can examine whether it is a helpful tool.

Emotions fluctuate; needs fluctuate; and the better you can take the time to figure out if therapy is helping you, the easier it will feel to learn how to get what you need from it.

Therapy is going to look different and feel different for every person, so try to ensure you are deciding to start, stay, or stop based on your ability to focus on putting your needs first.
