The Values on the Porch - Episode #1
In this episode of my podcast, I discuss the formation of how values exist. Specific values mean alot to people, but I bring up essential components that shape the development of values. Once you have a better understanding of how it begins, you will have a clearer picture, allowing you to process your self-identity and navigate life more intentionally.
Everyone has values—think of it as your blueprint to life and your standard of conduct in the way you choose to live. Whether those values are positive or negative, they help you determine the direction you want to take and the purpose that serves you.
Here are the three topics I talk about related to values….
1. Family: The way we form specific values often comes from the expectations our family has and the topics they discuss.
2. Culture: Our cultural norms significantly influence our behavior. Various implicit and explicit expectations guide how we navigate our values in relation to our traditions and cultural background.
3. Personal Experiences: Our individual life experiences play a crucial role in shaping our beliefs and values. Reflect on your own life and the defining moments that have altered the way you think about what is truly important.
Remember to let your values lead, and healing follow.
